The Health Innovation Hub
A leap for life sciences
Attracting new businesses, delivering local benefits and setting the scene for a thriving life sciences cluster on the Clyde waterfront.
We are working with Kadans Science Partner to create a new precision medicine Health Innovation Hub (HIH), a flagship investment within the Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID), a partnership between the University of Glasgow, Scottish Enterprise, and Glasgow City Council.
The highly flexible building will include laboratory and office space for life science and health businesses, with research links to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
It will also be home to the Living Laboratory for Precision Medicine Digital Health Validation Lab, which will enhance the evaluation and validation of digital health technologies for clinical use, accelerating their adoption into clinical practice.
The Health Innovation Hub will be a catalyst for collaboration and innovation to better tackle global healthcare challenges, bringing real world benefits to patients and the NHS.
With a rust-red façade, the building represents both the area’s heavily industrial past as well as its bright future for medical research. Windows are spaced at varying intervals to recall DNA coding. Inside, generous shared spaces will bring a community of scientists together in a large atrium and smaller breakout spaces. The accessible ground floor, with cafe and collaboration spaces, will be a usable space for the local community.
The flexible nature of the building means that tenants can grow and evolve within the building over time, making the HIH their long-term home. Targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating, it will also be futureproofed in terms of energy efficiency.
We hope the project will spark regeneration and further development within the Glasgow Riverside Innovation District and the local Govan area.
