NTU Design and Digital Arts Building
Combining traditional practices with creative technologies
Creating a new landmark building in Nottingham for the creative industries.
Nottingham has been influencing, inspiring and innovating art and design for over 175 years and NTU is one of the world’s leading art and design schools. This new building brings traditional design practices together with creative digital technologies, producing graduates for the fastest growing sector in the UK economy.
The building contains state-of-the-art film, animation, UX design, gaming design, graphic design and illustration facilities. The innovation lab enables collaborations with industry and a dedicated gallery space showcases student projects from the Nottingham School of Art & Design.
Acting as a welcoming gateway to the NTU City Campus, the new building will create an active and exciting ground floor to attract passers-by and maximise connections with other buildings on the campus.
The new building is intended to deliver exemplary carbon credentials supporting NTU’s zero carbon commitment. It creates more green spaces for students, colleagues and the local community to enjoy whilst enhancing the biodiversity of the University environment.
As part of this strategy, the design was developed using H\B:ERT to measure and compare embodied carbon emissions.
