Earth Day 2025 at Hawkins\Brown

The built environment needs a paradigm shift.

Design thinking is out of date. To design for the future, our industry needs a paradigm shift to create places and spaces that actually benefit people and the environment.

According to the World Green Building Council, the maintenance and construction of our built environment accounts for 39% of global energy-related carbon emissions. With the global population set to reach 10 billion by the 2050s, it’s more important than ever for architects to listen to communities and design sustainable, regenerative buildings that adapt to our challenging times.

But with regulatory frameworks and fixed plans of work, it can often be difficult to enact the change we want to see.

Enter the Hawkins\Brown Environmental Intelligence team! To celebrate Earth Day 2025, the EI team is sharing free resources for architects to help navigate the RIBA Plan of Work from a regenerative design perspective, taking into account social engagement, whole life carbon analysis, and more.
